At this point Add2Exchange should be set up correctly and you should have relationships. Now is the time to check whether the information is synchronizing correctly.
• | Log in as one of the users for whom you set up a relationship. |
• | Look for an item in the Source folder and see if it synchronized to the Destination folder. |
Tip: BE SURE you create the test item within the date range you specified to synchronize in the relationship. If the relationship is set to synchronize for 30 days, it will not synchronize an Appointment or Task 32 days ahead.
• | Then make a new or modify an existing item in the Source and start the Add2Exchange Service. It should synchronize to the Destination item after one complete Synchronization Interval for that type of folder. |
• | Next, modify the Destination item and if Add2Exchange is set up to allow changes to the Source, if the Destination is changed, the changes will synchronize to the Source. |
Please Note: Unlike CalendWare, the changes from the Source to Destination are not immediate, and changes from Destination to Source only occur after the timed automatic synchronization. With Add2Exchange, all synchronization is done at the time of synchronization.
• | Now make a personal Calendar item and select Private in the lower right hand corner and save the item. If Do Not Copy Private Items is selected in the relationship settings, no item in the Destination folder should have been created. If it is not checked, a copy will be made. |
• | If there was an mutual relationship made for this user, make an item in the Destination folder and the item will synchronize back after the next complete Synchronization Interval. |
• | NOTE: Once the Console is opened, the Add2Exchange Service is stopped and Synchronization Interval is reset. Once you exit the Console and start the Add2Exchange Service, synchronization takes effect almost immediately in order to reflect your relationship changes. After this initial synchronization Add2Exchange operates on the Synchronization Intervals specified in the Service Utility. |

Make sure by performing the following steps:
• | Open the Add2Exchange Service, and select Properties. Click on the Log On tab and select the Service Account. |
• | Use the format Domain\Service Account as in the figure. |
• | Enter the password twice. |
• | Go to the General tab to verify the Startup Mode is set to Automatic. |
• | Click Apply and OK. |
NOTE: Now that you have verified the Service Account credentials that start and stop the Add2Exchange Service, you should get in the habit of only starting and stopping the Add2Exchange Service by opening and closing the Add2Exchange Console.
Make sure the SQL Express database is also logged on and started in the same manner. If it is not, opening the Console will prompt for the password.

How can I tell what Add2Exchange is doing?
Normally, the Add2Exchange Service starts and is always in memory until you stop the Add2Exchange Service or open the Console.
Once the Add2Exchange Service starts with the proper credentials for both the A2ESQLServer instance and Add2Exchange Service, you can view synchronization progress by opening up the Windows Task Manager and selecting the Processes tab, checking Show processes from all users and sorting by the Image Name column. At first, at least the Add2Exchange Service should be listed.
Task Manager |
Within 30 seconds of the Add2Exchange Service starting, the Add2Exchange Service calls the A2E Director, which looks at each type of relationship, Calendar then Contacts and then Tasks. If the Director finds relationship(s), for each relationship it calls the Add2Exchange SyncProgram that actually does the work. The Add2Exchange SyncProgram will go in and out of scope for each relationship. Once the A2E Director finds no more relationships of that type, the Director goes out of scope and waits 30 seconds and then opens up the Director for Contact relationships to be synchronized. If there are relationships, the SyncProgram opens and closes for each relationship. If there are no relationships for that folder type, it will close the Director and then wait 30 seconds and then go to Tasks. If it finds Task relationships to synchronize, it will call the SyncProgram. If not, it will close and leave the Add2Exchange Service in scope.
Tip: To force synchronization there is no need to change the Synchronization Interval, just stop and start the Add2Exchange Service.
